Today, wireless LAN based on WiFi is universally available, offering a tetherless alternative to Ethernet that enables increased mobility and convenience. We're still waiting for a wireless killer app to emerge, with voice over Wi-Fi still more promise than reality. New 802.11 versions and options continue to proliferate.
