One Session Too Many, A Thousand Never Enough
By Lorna Garey at 12:29 PM

The American Medical Association this week declined to list excessive video game playing as an addiction, according to the Associated Press. The AMA did acknowledge that because 70 to 90 percent of U.S. youths play video games, more research is needed on long-term effects. It punted the full report to the American Psychiatric Association, for possible inclusion in a future edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

Here's mud in your iPhone
By Mike Fratto at 06:44 PM

I don't care about the iPhone. Unless Apple wants to buy out my current contract with Verizon Wireless or Verizon Wireless wants to start carrying the iPhone, I know that I won't be buying one any time soon. I plunked down a pretty penny for my Treo 700P and I use the messaging and calendaring features daily.

Viral Video of the Week: A Whale of a Tale
By Tom LaSusa at 03:12 PM

This week's video is a classic in more ways than one. It's been circulating the web since before the term "viral video" was ever uttered. Heck, filmed in 1970, it's been around since before the web as we know it.

It's Easy Being Green
By Lorna Garey at 09:42 AM

Carbonfund.org is a nonprofit based in Silver Springs, Md., that teams with businesses to support carbon-reducing initiatives. Tech companes currently partnering with the group include WebEx, which will sponsor a tree if you sign up for a free trial and host two meetings with at least two participants (www.webex.com/tree), and Dell, which is participating in the "Plant a Tree for Me" program.

Lean, Green and Wicked Fast, SSDs Outperform Spinning Media
By Art Wittmann at 04:31 PM

For some time now, solid state drives (SSD's) have been an expensive and not-so space efficient alternative to the classical hard drives. The gap, both in price and space efficiency is closing rapidly.

Meru and Morrisville Join Forces for 802.11n Deployment
By Dave Molta at 11:04 AM

Morrisville, N.Y., is a small college town about 30 miles southeast of Syracuse, N.Y., my hometown. It's a picturesque college town in rural upstate New York. Many people who equate New York with New York City can't imagine that such a place could exist. Not too long ago, I was looking at some old home movies my father shot back in the early 1960s, including one of my cousin Tom's graduation from Morrisville College. When I was growing up, we knew it as Morrisville Ag/Tech, a two-year school that catered to a lot of students who weren't sure they wanted to spend four years in college. Tom went on to enjoy a successful career as co-owner of J&T Automotive.
